In 1996, in Varginha, Brazil, something fell from the sky — and the people who saw what came out of it spent the next 30 years living in fear of telling anyone.

In this episode, Tina and Laura revisit the Varginha incident through the lens of the documentary A Moment of Contact: New Revelations in Alien Encounters. What sets this case apart isn’t just the number of witnesses. It’s the specificity. Independent accounts, from people who had no contact with each other, describe the same physical details, the same overwhelming smell that lingered for days, the same sense of something deeply, disturbingly real.

Three young girls stumbled upon a being crouching near a wall in broad daylight. A police officer physically handled the creature and died weeks later from a bacterial infection that no available medicine could fight. A physician who assisted in the surgery was sworn to silence for decades, until a brush with his own mortality convinced him the world needed to know. And then there were the men in black — tall, suited, carrying briefcases, arriving and departing without a trace, and knowing exactly who to threaten.

One of the most striking moments in the documentary comes from a man who was present when one of the beings was being examined. He didn’t describe it as a threat, or a curiosity, or a specimen. He called it a magnificent creature. He said he could feel, telepathically, that it had been cared for, that it meant no harm. Through tears, he called it an angel.
